wedding stationery

When my husband and I got married on New Years Eve, I created all of the graphics for the printed items. Since we were getting married on New Year’s Eve, we wanted the event to feel festive, but also unique. With my love of all things vintage, I also wanted it to feel timeless. I gathered inspiration and imagery from my favorite vintage tea tin and got to work.

color palette

The first thing I go to when I start a new project is color. Color sets the stage for how everything else comes together. For a New Year’s wedding, we needed at least one red or two to make it feel like the holidays. After that, I wanted other bright and quirky colors to make it feel more like my personality.

invitation

I love the look of vintage floral patterns, but I also tend to have a quirky drawing style so I merged the two. This gives you doodle like flowers with wispy tendrils and leaves. The front of the invitation shows a floral border at the top and bottom. Some of these same flowers can be found on the back of the invite. I turned the lines into negative space and filled the background with the gold yellow.

r.s.v.p.

I wanted the R.S.V.P. post card to have a less formal and more fun kind of vibe. So the polkadots are wonderfully wonky and simple. They also display the entire color palette that I was going for with the other details in the wedding.

ceremony details

Here are some images of the wedding to show how well the color palette and design inspiration was carried through to other details that day.

cookie favor

One of my bridesmaids is a wonderful baker. She made over 200 ginger sorghum cookies for my reception as a favor for the guests. I made a sticker to put on each cookie bag.

thank you notes

We received many beautiful gifts and cards for our wedding, so in turn we had a stack full of thank you notes to send out. I made a simple blank card with the multicolored dots to match the whole stationary set. I also ordered a stamp with our names that I used as the signature for each of the cards.
